Men’s Basketball Wins 21 Games, Sees First Postseason in 14 Years
The Ball State men’s basketball team had a memorable 2015-16 season, notching both the program’s most wins and first postseason appearance in more than a decade. The effort garnered the team the Comeback of the Year Award at the second annual Chirpies, and senior Bo Calhoun was named the Breakthrough Athlete of the Year at Ball State.
The Cardinals’ 21 victories were the most since 2001-02. The team also shared a Mid-American Conference West Division title and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Collegeinsider.com Tournament, losing 69-67 to Columbia on March 23. The team’s last postseason appearance, in the National Invitation Tournament, was also 14 years ago.
Forward Sean Sellers and assistant coach Danny Peters received individual recognition this past season.
Sellers was named to the Academic All-MAC Team. The sophomore sport administration major from Greensburg, Indiana, had a 3.576 GPA, the highest of anyone named to the 13-member team.
Peters was selected to the 2016 Under Armour 30-under-30 Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
