In scores of central Indiana schools, Ball State’s reading challenge translates kids’ admiration for Cardinal student-athletes into a passion for books. The program rewards students for reading and also brings the Ball State brand to students and teachers across the area.
A communication studies class helped raise money for a big mural celebrating diversity in Muncie. Students used their skills while working with We’re Trying Collective, a group co-founded by two Ball State alumni. The colorful abstract is both art and celebration.
As the new executive director of Muncie Arts & Culture Council, Braydee Euliss, ’11, said she strives to enhance the role of the arts “as a community builder, as an economic driver, as a kind of glue that helps hold smaller communities like ours together.”
Artist Stacey Lee Webber, ’05, returned to Ball State for a solo exhibit that included intricate sculptures made from coins. The sculptor also spoke to School of Art students, who were inspired by her journey to becoming a full-time artist.
