Eight Amazing Places to Explore in Muncie, Indiana

We understand that it may be hard for students to leave campus at times, but Muncie has so much to offer! Likewise, alumni who haven’t been to Muncie for a while may be interested in the finest our city has to offer these days.

We recently asked Ball State’s social media followers where they like to spend time around Muncie. Here are eight of those places that made the top of the list.

The Caffeinery

This local coffee shop in Downtown Muncie on Walnut Street offers an environment to work and relax with exceptional coffee. Their coffee is “roasted to order in small batches with artistic precision.” According to our poll, The Caffeinery provides a perfect gathering place for students and the Muncie community. First Thursdays ArtWalk

Join the Muncie community for its First Thursdays ArtWalk, an interactive gallery tour through Downtown Muncie on the first Thursday of each month. Observe and hear from local artists as they showcase their unique creations. You can often find a Ball State organization or two there as well. Queer Chocolatier

Immerse yourself in a variety of “unapologetically indulgent” truffles at the Queer Chocolatier located near campus in The Village on University Avenue. Let’s be honest. You haven’t really lived the Muncie life unless you’ve visited Concannon’s Bakery on Baker Lane. Get delicious fresh produce and explore a variety of vendors at Minnetrista’s Farmers Market, Saturday mornings. It’s a farmers market that doesn’t disappear in cold weather, but instead sets up indoors for those chilly months. Muncie Civic Theatre

For an outing with family or friends or even a fun date night, our poll participants suggest a visit to Muncie Civic Theatre on East Main Street. Founded in 1931 and one of the oldest theaters in the country, the theatre stages a variety of mainstage shows and also hosts events such as the Annual Arf Runway for Rescue Fashion Show.
